When Meditation doesn’t Work
Meditation is my absolute go to, when I seek balance and soul centeredness. Except when it doesn’t work. When I can’t help meditating on problems and to-do-lists rather than let go. That happens often, and the more I get caught up in problem solving, fear or fixing, the farther I seem to drift away from the centre. And the more desperate I get, because it feels so ‘not me’.
Oh, that blissful place of silence inside that make you sigh with satisfaction….The place long, for when I am hurled around in the wind of ego management. I know its close and never gone, but how do I get there?
This is what I do to gently guide my attention back to the present moment, where everything is, and exactly as it should be:
Deep breathing - reminding the body to connect to soul
Move - to let go of tension and anchor in the body by feeling the body
Surrender - give up and hand over everything that is troublesome. EVERYTHING that is heavy, scary and squeezes happiness out of life. Allow the universe to take over and work it’s brilliant.
